Early morning, embark on a jeep safari in the Central (Kohora) Range, the most popular zone for spotting rhinos, wild elephants, swamp deer, and diverse birdlife. Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Assam, is world-famous for its population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros. It is also home to tigers, wild elephants, swamp deer, and over 450 species of birds.
The park is open from November to April. The best wildlife sightings occur between February and April, while November–January offers pleasant weather. The park remains closed during the monsoon (May–October) due to flooding.
A 2–3 day trip is ideal to cover the Central, Western, and Eastern ranges, enjoy both morning and afternoon safaris, and experience local culture.
Kaziranga offers both jeep safaris and elephant safaris. Jeep safaris allow access to all ranges and cover larger areas, while elephant safaris (in select zones) offer a closer view of rhinos in their natural habitat.
